Zachary Haris Ong (M.wREGA) graduated with Bachelor of Arts in Design from Curtin University of Technology, Australia. He is passionate and committed to the transformation of the design industry to impact Malaysia’s GDP. He co-created multiple design conferences, workshops and seminars to empower design students, businesses and professionals with new and cutting edge domains of design knowledge. He was instrumental in assembling the first coalition of all design related associations united under the Malaysia Design Council with the purpose to create a new future for the design industry of Malaysia. This encompasses the major design fields in Malaysia namely architecture, interior design, graphic design, industrial design, fashion design, advertising and invention design. For his work, he was nominated for the prestigious 7 Bintang Lifetime Achievement Award at Kuala Lumpur Design Week 2011 in recognition for individuals who are a contribution to the creative industry of Malaysia. He led the Rediscovery: ico-D Design Week in Sarawak 2012 and was the President of wREGA, the Graphic Design Association of Malaysia. He was listed in Prestige magazine's Top 40 Movers and Shakers of Malaysia Under 40. Recently, he was awarded as winner of the 100 Most Influential Young Entrepreneur 2017. In October 2017, he was elected as the first Malaysian (and ASEAN) President of the International Council of Design (ico-D) during the 27th General Assembly in Montreal, Canada. His appointment as President marks the recognition of Malaysian talents by the international design community.
